Bridgewater Police to Participate in National Coffee with a Cop Day

BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte is pleased to announce that the Bridgewater Police Department will be participating in National Coffee with a Cop Day next week.

“Coffee with a Cop is great way for our officers to meet with residents and get to know them on a more personal, informal level,” Chief Delmonte said. “We hope to see a lot of community members stop the Bridgewater McDonald’s next week.”

WHEN:

Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 9-10:30 a.m.

WHERE:

McDonald’s, 222 Broad St., Bridgewater

WHAT:

Residents, business owners and community members are invited to meet with Bridgewater Police officers to engage in meaningful conversation over a cup of coffee — or two.

There is no set agenda for the event, but rather a chance for residents to meet the officers who serve their community, ask questions and express any concerns they may have.

McDonald’s franchise owner Mark McBee will be giving out a free small cup of coffee to those who attend.

“As a McDonald’s Owner/Operator, being involved in the community is the cornerstone of my business, and I look forward to hosting this event in partnership with Bridgewater Police Department,” McBee said. “I hope that community members will attend the Coffee with a Cop event and feel comfortable to ask questions, bring forward concerns, or simply get to know the officers that patrol our neighborhoods day in and day out.”

The event is part of National Coffee with a Cop Day, conducted in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Justice Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.

The first Coffee with a Cop event was held in 2011 by the Hawthorne Police Department in California. The initiative has since spread globally as a simple but effective method of bringing police and communities together.
