BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte and the Bridgewater Police Department are pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 23rd Citizens Police Academy Class.
The 14-week citizens academy is open to all Bridgewater residents over the age of 21, and is designed to familiarize residents with the daily operations of the department.
The academy will meet on Wednesday evenings from 6-9 p.m. beginning Jan. 8, 2020.
Academy participants will get an in-depth look at the following aspects of the department:
- Constitutional Law
- Motor Vehicle Law
- Use of Force
- K-9 Unit
- Domestic Violence
- Patrol Procedures
- Officer Survival
- Active Shooter Response (ALICE)
- Defensive Tactics
- Drone Operations
- OUI Liquor
- Mock Trial and Courtroom Procedures
- Drug Recognition Expert
- Drug Enforcement
Participants will also have the opportunity to ride-along with officers on patrol, tour the Old Colony Correctional Institution at Bridgewater and observe the judicial process at Brockton District Court.
“The Citizens Police Academy is a valuable way for our residents to see firsthand our officers’ extensive duties and responsibilities,” Chief Delmonte said. “We are looking forward to welcoming the new academy class and teaching them all that we have to offer.”
