Bridgewater Police Announce Support of “Put it Down” Campaign

BRIDGEWATER — Chief Christopher Delmonte is pleased to announce the Bridgewater Police Department’s support of the “Put it Down” campaign against texting and driving.

The Put it Down campaign is a local grassroots effort by Pam Erlichman, a Bridgewater resident, who was nearly run off the road recently by a motorist who was looking down at their phone. Erlichman launched a fundraiser for Put it Down in September, and has raised more than $1,500 of her $4,000 goal. The money raised will be used to purchase law signs, bumper stickers and banners reminding drivers to put their phones away while driving.

Erlichman’s distracted driving campaign was recently featured in the Brockton Enterprise.

“The Bridgewater Police Department supports grassroots efforts to keep our roads safe,” Chief Delmonte said. “We appreciate Pam’s work on behalf of our community and encourage others to show their support by getting involved to raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving.”
